How did you feel before being coached? What were the biggest issues you were facing?
Before I started working with Eve, I felt unfocused in reaching my goals. I had identified parts of my life I wanted to address - satisfaction with my career, emotional well-being, expanding my friendships in the community, writing - but felt stuck. They seemed impossible to break down and overwhelming to start working towards. I also felt like I had too many goals and not a lot of sense of why I was reaching for them.
What else have you tried to solve these issues? How did it go?
I looked up steps to accomplish my goals, wrote them down in my notebooks, and willed myself to accomplish them. I didn’t have difficulty beginning, but I wasn’t consistent and often gave up when inevitably my willpower ran out.
Did you have any concerns before our coaching relationship began? What were they?
As a high achieving individual, I had consistently set and reached hard goals before, so I wasn’t sure how coaching would help, but I was open to trying.
What changed after working with me?
I’ve known Eve personally for nearly 10 years, so she already had insight into who I had been and what I’d accomplished. Throughout our sessions, I realized how many limiting beliefs and fixed mindsets I had, in particular about creative pursuits. I had downloaded the narrative in my youth that only intellectual and physical pursuits were worth doing. She encouraged me to have a growth mindset and reflect on my limiting beliefs as well as articulate small moves I was comfortable with, which opened up my self confidence and clarity.
I loved how she connected my goals to my emotions - what did I feel about setting for and striving towards these goals? Over time, I reviewed and revised my goals to better connect with what I felt truly would bring me joy. I took my homework seriously, but Eve helped me navigate my own way. As a result, and inspired by her own pursuits, I had a major breakthrough that helped me begin writing my memoir, and I signed up for a coaching certification to help others do the same of what she did for me.
If you wanted to recommend me to a friend, what would you say?
Yasssssss. Need I really say more?
